President's Message

On behalf of the Region Five Board Of Officers, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members a very happy holiday season. This is always a special time of year, as we gather with the ones we love and give thanks for what we have, and celebrate our religious beliefs. For some, it will not be as joyous. Please keep those folks in your prayers, and remember to be on the lookout for opportunities to brighten someone's season, or to get them through a rough patch.
We go into this holiday season with our brother and sister officers from around the globe sharing many common concerns. We also share many common beliefs, even as we may have different religious ideas. Pray for peace around the world and an end to terrorism.
There will be some exciting changes coming up for 2009. Our very own NDC Rep Steve Kear has taken an appointed position on the National Board as Third Vice-President. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Steve well in his new job. As a result of his new position, Steve has had to vacate his position as Region Five NDC Rep. I have seen fit to appoint Steve to the position of Region Five Third Vice-President. This is an appointed position which we have not filled in a while. This is a wonderful opportunity to keep Steve onboard with us and open some positions for others to get involved.
I am happy to report that Arnold Rothenberg will fill Steve's old post as Region Five National Delegate. Arnold has been very active for quite some time and I am confident he will do a great job. I have also asked Steve Ryan to fill the post of Sgt. At Arms which Arnold now vacates. Steve is happy to do so. I am also happy to report that Daniela Farrell will be filling the position of Region Five Benefits Coordinator. I think she will do a great job. Daniela does a lot for our region, and I am excited to have her onboard in her new capacity. You will see these changes take effect on January 1st.
We had a very successful year once again. I will be making a full year end report in January. We have every reason to believe that 2009 will be great as well. We will continue to focus on recruitment as a top priority. We are also planning some new events, which include another trip to Las Vegas in late April. Details will be announced soon.
In closing, please accept my warmest and most heartfelt wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season filled with all the joys that friendship and families bring. I look forward to seeing each of you at our many various events throughout the upcoming year. Please remember to spread the word about the IPA and try to sign someone up this year.
